Event description

Description

Louis XIV becomes king at 5 years old when his father dies. His mother, Anne of Austria, governs the country with the help of cardinal Mazarin. The high tax causing a four-year revolt, Louis has to flee several times from Paris, a traumatizing experience for the young king. Luckily for him, dance is a constance that helps him navigate through ebbs and flows, and dancing allows him to express himself in a way he could not with words.

In this Spring Showcase, follow Louis XIV from his childhood to the day he founds the first ballet school, and the legacy he left to ballet and subsequent forms of dance.

THE SUN KING
Spring showcase of HaoExpression school, featuring students of all ages and performing art forms: ballet, theater, vocal, creative dance..., codirected by Bay Area based, Cuban ballet dancer Rudy Candia, and French-Vietnamese artist Hao Bach-Thai Lueckhoff.
