Event Details

Local historians and writers John Martini, Paul Judge, and Sierra Hartman discuss the shipwrecks, the tunnels and the Victorian-era endeavors of Adolph Sutro, which lie beneath and scattered among the Lands End's rocky cliffs. Moderated by Lauren Hartman.

The program is part of The Society of Submerged Culture, a month-long project at StoreFrontLab by Bay Area artist Lauren Hartman. The Society reveals the many layers of San Francisco's undersea history, ranging from sunken ships under the financial district to a coastline dotted with shipwrecks. StoreFrontLab serves as the Society headquarters offering maps nautical instruments, artifacts, and a library of submerged literature. Local experts in the field will host lectures, workshops, film screenings, and other events.
