How is New Jersey tackling the issues around childhood obesity, fitness and nutrition? This town hall will examine the causes of the current crisis and the many organizations that have mobilized to tackle the problem. It will focus on the strategies that are turning the tide and provide viewers with ways to make a difference in their own communities. Learn how neighbors are building playgrounds, launching farmer’s markets and even bringing supermarkets to areas once called “food deserts”.
Hosted by Mike Schneider, Managing Editor of NJTV News with Mike Schneider, expert panelists will field questions before an audience of key stakeholders, health and healthcare practitioners and the general public at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
Panelists will include Dr. Nwando Anyaoku, Director of General Pediatrics at Children's Hospital/Newark Beth Israel Medical Center; Adrian Benepe, Senior Vice President & Director of City Park Development of The Trust for Public Land; Miguel Brito, Head of School and Executive Director of Philip's Academy Charter School in Newark; and Yael Lehman, Executive Director of The Food Trust.
