Event description
The first live concert by the SSO since 2020, offered free to our friends in the Redding area!

About this event

This concert will charge the audience with the joyous and fun-filled Overture to the Pirates of Penzance followed by the youthful mastery of Benjamin Britten's iconic work for strings, The Simple Symphony. The concert will then take the audience on a journey from tragedy to triumph, a fitting theme for our region, with Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, which starts in a dark minor key and culminates with a transformation to a triumphant major finish! This work is also presented as part of a belated birthday celebration in honor of Beethoven's 250th birthday, which should have happened in 2020. Because of the pandemic closures last year we continue our celebration this year. Happy belated 250th birthday, Ludwig van Beethoven!
