Event description

Description

We're also offering this same workshop on the evening of February 26th! Click HERE to register.

What every creative professional needs to know about the new tax laws in order to get the most out of their earnings!

With the new tax laws now going into effect, there are countless changes to the existing rules—everything from revisions to tax rate structures to elimination of commonly used deductions. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to take advantage of the new changes and intricacies of the tax laws—and how you can use the tax laws to take control of your career. Learn all the tax differences between being hired and paid as an employee as compared to being a sub-contractor/loan out, as well as all the pros and cons of incorporating as your own LLC or other business structure. You’ll learn how to avoid common tax pitfalls and keep as much of your hard-earned money as possible.

Whether you’re a Hollywood hopeful or an established actor, writer, director, assistant, or other creative professional, you can take your career, your personal brand, and your talents to the next level by taking control of and building your financial foundation!

Who should attend: All creative and entertainment professionals who want to understand and take control of their finances and taxes; any creative artists who are running or considering starting their own businesses.

What you should bring: A computer or pen/paper for taking notes and any tax questions you have. Feel free to bring any of your tax documentation, such as W-2, 1099-Misc, etc.

By the end of this workshop, you'll know:

  1. How the new tax changes affect you and each of your business endeavors;
  2. The difference between a wage employee and a subcontractor and how they file their tax returns differently; and
  3. The pros and cons of incorporating for tax purposes.
