Full title: The Special Education Process: Understanding the Why and How Beyond Dotting the "Is" and Crossing the "Ts"
This session will emphasize the special eduation processes in locating, identifying, and placing children with disabilities. The processes of initial referral and eligibility determination as well as reevaluation will be presented. Developemnt of PLAAFAs and measurable goals will also be included in this session through presentation and participant activities. While this session will provide an understanding of the policies and regulations in documenting the processes (i.e. completing forms), the main focus is on ensuring the spirit of the law and the provision of a FAPE for students with disabilities. This session is not a forms centered presentation. While this session is designed primarily for classroom special education teachers, it is open to other staff.
Due to the popularity of this session, participation is limited to no more than 2 registratrants per LEA.
Each participant is asked to bring a laptop that is able to accept a thumb drive.
