About this Event

Genuine Culture, LLC is proud to present The Soul of Hip-Hop: Live. The Soul of Hip-Hop: Live will take place on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Gateway City Arts in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

This interactive live musical journey will showcase some of the many highlights of the soulful sound of the Hip-hop Genre. The soul of hip-hop will feature live interpretations and covers by some of hip-hop’s most innovative and timeless groups such as A Tribe Called Quest, The Pharcyde, Erykah badu, Slum Village and the late, great J-Dilla.

The Rhythm Section for this event will be the incredible Dillatronics Band which consist of an all-star cast of young innovative musicians representing the Western Mass area. The talented crew of musicians include, Zack Cross (keys), Reed Sutherland (Bass), Ted Sullivan (Drums), Colin Jalbert (Samples, Beats), Killian Karlson (guitar) and will feature special guest Mtali Shaka Banda (Tenor Sax), Cait Simpson (Vox) and Hartford, CT’s own Tang Sauce (Rapper, Vox).

It’s only right to “level up” this celebration to top off the night with a Soulful Classic Hip-Hop Party. DJ Rec (Humble Monarch Sound Platoon, NEPR) and Krefting will be on deck to “move the crowd” to jubilation with the Boom Bap and Soulful Rhythms of Classic Hip-Hop.
