Description

The Songwriter Series

Dockery’s is bringing together an amazing lineup of some of country music’s finest songwriters paired with some of Charleston’s very own troubadours. Come listen to the stories behind how some of your favorite contry songs came to be as these Nashville legends play their hits and give quick interviews about themselves during the Dockery’s Songwriter Series! Charleston songwriters will be selected from those who've submitted entries into the Dockery's Songwriting Contest and will be announced once selected. Kickin' Country's TJ Phillips will MC the evening.

About Billy Montana

First inspired to pick up a guitar as a teenager in rural upstate New York by his musician father, Montana soon formed a country/rock band with his brother. After graduating with a degree in agriculture from Cornell University, Montana decided to try music full time and traded his dream of becoming a farmer for a record deal on Warner Brothers. His 1996 Magnatone Records release "No Yesterday" received great critical acclaim from USA Today, Music Row magazine, and Billboard magazine.

Billy Montana has achieved four #1 country records: Lee Brice's “Hard To Love”(2012), Garth Brooks' “More Than A Memory”(2007), Sara Evans' "Suds In The Bucket" (2004) and Jo Dee Messina's "Bring On The Rain" (2002). Montana’s most recent hit, “Night Shift,” peaked at #4 on the Country Aircheck Media Base chart in May of 2019.

Some of the ones you've heard of:

Garth Brooks: More than a Memory

Sara Evans: Suds in the Bucket

Lee Brice: Hard to Love

Jo Dee Messina: Bring on the Rain

Kenny Chesney: 7 Days, 1,000 Times

Jason Aldean: Not Every Man Lives
