The Smart Farm: Where Technology and Innovation Meet
April 5, 2016 at 1:00PM – 2:00PM EST
Live from John Deere Headquarters in Moline, Illinois

Celebrate Learn how innovative technologies aid today’s farmers & ranchers as they produce America’s food.

Join us on April 5 at 1pm EST, as the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Association and Discovery Education lead you and your students on a Virtual Field Trip to the John Deere headquarters in Moline, Ill.

Irrigation systems managed from iPads, animal diets tracked by computer chips, and tractors that drive using GPS are only a few examples of the ways farmers and ranchers are using technology on their farms and ranches to produce food in a sustainable manner. Conversations with leaders in agriculture will allow you to explore new techniques that have revolutionized the industry and the career opportunities that these advancements have brought to the field.

No special equipment is needed to view this event online. View the live event at www.discoveringfarmland.com/virtualfieldtrip . All you need is an internet connected computer (and a way to share with students - projector and speakers). Students will have the chance to submit questions to ask live.
