The "Smart City” is coming: what does this mean, and can it be sustainable?
Thu, May 4, 2017, 5:30 PM – 8:00 PM BST
It's hard to avoid hearing discussion about the "Smart City" concept and its future impact, but what does it mean? Like many people, you might have a sense that it has something to do with integrated infrastructure, or public transport, or devices connected to the internet, but not be sure how all these things fit together.
This event is a chance to learn more about the smart city concept and discuss the kind of smart city that we would like to see - with a focus on what the idea means for environmental sustainability.
We will hear from members of DMU's Smart Cities Industry Innovation Forum, which is currently exploring what the idea might mean for Leicester. Your input at the meeting will contribute to their assessment of public and stakeholder views in Leicester.
The discussion will go wider than Leicester though, exploring different ideas of how the smart city agenda might help or hinder efforts to promote sustainability - making connections with the particular projects and activities that each participant is involved in.
You can attend this session in person or online via webinar software.
