Event description

Description

The Silver Lining Gala fundraiser, to benefit individuals living with addiction and other mental health issues.

Dinner and entertainment at the Norwood Hotel Ballroom on Thursday April 25, 2019. Featuring comedian Big Daddy Tazz and Master of Ceremonies Randy Parker from QX104's morning show.

Often described as “one of the most talented comics in the business”, Big Daddy Tazz has been delighting crowds at fundraisers, corporate events, festivals and on television for more than a decade and a half. Known as the “Bi-Polar Buddha”, Tazz is equal parts comedian and motivational speaker, who likes to enlighten, educate and inspire. As a result, his one-man shows have drawn rave reviews and standing ovations from coast-to-coast.

Tazz’s many national festival appearances have included the prestigious Just for Laughs festival in Montreal, the Moncton Comedy Festival, and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, for which he often multitasks as a writer, producer and performer. Tazz’s explosive gala performances at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival over the years can be seen frequently on CBC television and the Comedy Network. On April 1, 2008 Tazz shattered the standing record for continuous stand-up comedy with his 8.5-hour stand-up comedy show.

Co-host of QX104 morning show, Randy Parker, is a born and bred (just outside the perimeter) Winnipegger. She loves the city but her favourite spots are definitely outside of it, including being at the cabin, anywhere with fresh air, no cell reception and some good fishing – you can’t beat it! Some of her favourite hobbies include cooking, snowboarding and anything to do with her dog. Seriously, if it were socially acceptable, she would take that 85 pound beast everywhere.

Other entertainment TBA.

This event provides funding to SRWC Recovery and Wellness Centre, a not-for-profit agency that works with individuals and families dealing with addictions, substance use disorder, and other mental health issues.
