Event description
World-renowned fortepianists Malcolm Bilson, Steve Lubin, and Eric Zivian play chamber works by Mozart, Haydn, J.C. Bach.

About this Event

Join us for a program of early Classical chamber works, performed by world-renowned fortepianists Malcolm Bilson, Eric Zivian, and Steve Lubin, alongside principal members of American Classical Orchestra (ACO). As the culminating event of The Sfzp Project, winners of the 1st Sfzp International Fortepiano Competition, taking place at NYSEC earlier that day, will also be announced.

About The Sfzp Project

Sforzpiano (Sfzp) [sforts piano]. An expressive dynamic marking in a score, indicating a sforzando followed immediately by piano, commonly used by Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Sfzp Project brings together today’s master performers and teachers—including Malcolm Bilson, Steven Lubin, Jiayan Sun, Yi-heng Yang, and Eric Zivian—and the next generation of pianists, eager to benefit from their predecessors’ scholarship and expertise. Internationally-renowned artists such as Audrey Axinn, Sylvia Berry, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Claire Chevalier, Bart van Oort, and others will perform and participate in future Sfzp Project concerts.

Through its fortepiano competition, master classes, and concert presentations, the Sfzp Project intends to elevate the fortepiano to the forefront of the HIP (historically-informed performance) community.
