Event description

Whether you’re halfway through your first NaNoWriMo manuscript or you’ve put out a dozen books, you likely have questions about what happens to your project when it goes on submission to an agent or editor. What makes a query letter or manuscript stand out from the pack? What happens in an editorial meeting? An acquisitions meeting? What does “not right for my list at this time” actually mean? What’s the best way to follow up on a submission that’s long overdue for a response? Most importantly, how can you sell your manuscript and build a successful career?

Editor Cheryl Klein has considered thousands of manuscripts in her seventeen years in publishing, at houses both large and small. In this one-hour benefit webinar, she’ll walk you through the submissions and acquisitions process step by step, addressing the agent search, the elements of a successful query letter and submissions package, and what’s happening on the editorial side of the desk, all the way through to a final response. Wherever you are in the submissions process, this webinar will provide the information you need to give your manuscript its best shot.

Registered participants will receive an e-mail address where you can submit questions beforehand, which Cheryl will answer in the course of the webinar or in a group e-mail afterward. If you’re unable to attend the live webinar, you can receive a unique link to watch a recording of it after the event.

All proceeds from this webinar will benefit Park Slope United Methodist Church, a progressive congregation in Brooklyn, New York. For more information about the church, please visit
