The Secret History of Love
Description
Sean Dorsey’s Fresh Meat Productions presents “The Secret History of Love”
The Secret History Of Love is the culmination of a two-year research process in which Sean Dorsey conducted extensive archival research and a national LGBT Elders Oral History Project. The Secret History Of Love is based on these oral histories – and features the voices and stories recorded in these interviews, along with powerful, moving and hilarious episodes from our community’s remarkable history of finding love. The Secret History Of Love features full-bodied, luscious dancing and first-hand tales of tremendous risk, passionate love, impossible courage, heart-breaking loss, and bold resistance – revealing the great resiliency and strength of the heart and spirit … even in the face of great danger and devastating violence.
With his signature fusion of modern dance, storytelling and theater, Sean Dorsey is blazing a trail celebrated by critics and sold-out audiences alike. At only 39, Dorsey has been awarded two Isadora Duncan Dance Awards, the Goldie Award for Performance, national commissions, and praise from New York to Los Angeles. Dorsey was the first transgender artist to be named in Dance Magazine’s “Top 25 to Watch,” an annual who’s-hot list of the nation’s leading dance artists.
*This groundbreaking project is supported by national commissions from the Creation Fund, National Performance Network, New England Foundation for the Arts’ National Dance Project, QueerCulturalCenter (San Francisco), The Theater Offensive (Boston), Links Hall (Chicago), and the San Francisco Arts Commission.
