The Seamus Egan Project with special guest Moira Smiley
Sat, September 16, 2017, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM EDT
In 2017, Seamus Egan, founding member of the seminal band Solas, will be touring for the first time ever, as The Seamus Egan Project, bringing along friends and musical guests, and introducing fans to both the entirety of his immense and influential catalog of music, as well as new music he’s never recorded or performed live. Beginning with tunes from his groundbreaking album, When Juniper Sleeps, which was the impetus for the formation of Solas, through the 20 year recording career of this iconic band, along with new tunes, Egan will continue to explore the further reaches of the Irish tradition, and beyond.
Joining Seamus will be Moira Smiley, who conceret-goers from last fall will remember as the incredible vocalist with Jayme Stone's Lomax Project. When she’s not leading her own group, Moira Smiley & VOCO, Moira tours with Indie artist tUnE-yArDs, The Lomax Project and Billy Child’s “Laura Nyro Re-Imagined”. Recent solo performances include TED, Stravinsky’s ‘Les Noces’, the London Proms Festival, features on BBC3’s The Choir, and ABC Australia’s Books & Arts programs.
This final concert will have an added bonus, a contradance in the tradition of “Plant and Sing”, featuring Ed Howe & Bennett Konesni’s band Drive Train!
Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
