The San Francisco Moth GrandSLAM
Event Information
About this event
The Moth is dedicated to finding people from all walks of life to tell inspired stories. At The Moth StorySLAM, those people find us. On this night, winners from our StorySLAM series compete to determine The San Francisco GrandSLAM Story Champion.
Our host: Corey Rosen is a writer, actor, and visual effects producer who has been featured on The Moth Radio Hour. A performer and trainer at BATS Improv, Corey is also a writer and creative director at Tippett Studio. His storytelling handbook, "Your Story, Well Told," was named as a finalist for the International Book Awards. Follow him @storyrosen or at CoreyRosen.com.
Our musician: Patrick Murphy is a bassist and composer residing in the San Francisco Bay area. Getting an early start performing in his childhood home of Boston, he continued on to study upright bass with Nicholas Walker at Ithaca College in upstate New York. After a number of years working as musician and piano technician in New York City, he found his way to California's Bay area in 2015. In addition to support roles as a bassist and guitarist, he also spearheads his own jazz ensemble, Sitka Sun. You can find Patrick performing as a bassist, guitarist, vinyl selector, radio host, and as a solo act mixing live improvisation with DJ techniques.
