Crystal Sanders examines the experiences of Black southerners compelled to leave their home states and families in pursuit of grad training.

About this event

In this talk based on her forthcoming book, Crystal Sanders examines the experiences of Black southerners compelled to leave their home states and families in pursuit of graduate training. In addition to shedding light on the high personal costs Black students endured by leaving the only land one knew, Sanders shows how the arrangement of exporting Black scholars stifled the curricular development of public black colleges.
