Janet, the Society's true crime researcher extraordinaire, has a local story to share that connects to the holiday of love.
A Valentine's Day luncheon celebration on February 14, 1992, included a reunion of some of the many women who worked at the South Akron plant of Saalfield Publishing.
The luncheon was covered and written by long time Akron Beacon Journal reporter, Fran Murphey. Past publications by the Akron icon were displayed, including the "Cupid" valentine below.
The publishing giant employed many women in both production areas and office and manuscript support. Caroline Affleck was an assistant editor for the company in the 1930's.
We hope you will join us on February 15 to learn more about this publishing giant and to acknowledge the many contributions of the Akronites to the publishing world.
Attendees may ask Janet questions during the presentation.
