Hajrija Imeri-Mihaljić, a gypsy, worked since her youth in the home of Ester Baruch in Kosovska Mitrovica. In March 1942, Germans arrested all the Jews of the town, among them Ester Baruch and her two-year-old granddaughter Ester Acević. This is a story of the brave Hajrija, from the village of Ade, who risked her life and the lives of her family to save the young child, Ester Acevic. You will hear the inspiring stories of the heroic deeds of the Albanian Kosovars, who as a community, worked together to save Jews during WWII.

On August 21, 1991, Yad Vashem recognized Hajrija Imeri-Mihaljić as Righteous Among the Nations.

A panel discussion will follow the film.

Award presentation to George Preng Uli in honor of his father's heroism rescuing Jews during WWII.

Special guests: Her Excellency, Vlora Citaku Ambassador of Kosovo, her excellency Ambassador of Albania Floreta Luli Faber and Congressman Elliot Engel.

Dessert Reception with authentic Balkan and European Delights.

The doors open at 6:30. Program begins at 7:00.
