Event description

Description

When: September 4, 11 and 18 from 6 PM to 7:30 PM

Where: JUMP Inspire Studio on the fourth floor, take a right out of the elevators and head towards the big Inspire sign.

Cost: $30 for all three classes

During this course you'll draw your own map to deepening your connection with others and becoming a leader in the new micro-community you create. Learn new ways to show up for those around you and broaden your definition of community to include people you didn't even know you needed. Learn how to schedule your time better and make the room for connecting with others. You'll look at the activities and obligations in your life as new opportunities for strengthening your ties to others. At the end of the workshop, you'll have all the scaffolding you need to expand your new village, one connection at a time.

Registration ends August 31.

*When you participate in a program or activity at JUMP, you agree to our Personal Release Statement.

"I’m a writer, researcher, and filmmaker trained at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California Berkeley. As in many professions, connecting with others is an essential skill for filmmakers. Maintaining strong connections made it possible for me to witness many vulnerable and intimate times in people’s lives and tell their stories.

But what I discovered too late, during a family crisis, was that I wasn’t transferring those skills over to my personal life. I had my nose to the parenting grindstone, the grad school grindstone, the just-too-busy-to-make-friends grindstone and hadn’t spent time shoring up my social circle.

Not only was I not feeling the much-needed support of a social community, I was missing out on the satisfaction that comes with supporting others when they need a hand and when they need to celebrate. I was missing out on sharing the good times as well as the bad with people around me and it felt lonely and terrible.

That’s when I decided to start researching how to revillage my own life. The Revillage Workshop is the culmination of 2 years of research and personal success at building solid community for the ground up.

I launched Say Hello to Strangers last year to give people a roadmap to building a robust community for themselves and to tackle the growing loneliness epidemic."

What is your passion?

"Helping others increase their happiness and feelings of connection and belonging. To take on the loneliness epidemic in America."
