Description
Does today's technology and media have anything to do with the unfolding story of God we find in the Bible? Is technology an inevitable culture-shaping force, or just a neutral tool to be used for good or evil, or something else completely? In his talk, John Dyer will walk us through both biblical and technological history, expanding our view of media, creativity, and culture, and showing us the role God has for technology in his plan of redemption.
Please join us for an evening considering the role of technology in our work. We will provide light food and drink. Included in the price of the ticket is John Dyer's book From the Garden to the City: The Redeeming and Corrupting Power of Technology (Kregel, 2011). We are also hosting a special presentation by Eric Swanson, Leadership Community Director at Leadership Network, entitled "The Smart Device Revolution." We will end with a panel discussion entitled "Creating Technology for Flourishing Communities."

Special Presentation – The Smart Device Revolution
What if you knew with absolute certainty that twenty years from today every person in the world would be carrying or wearing 24/7 a smart device (phone, watch, glasses, etc.)? How would that influence your missional engagement strategy around your church, community and world? Eric Swanson, Leadership Community Director at Leadership Network, will give a brief presentation on the history of technology and its implications for evangelism and discipleship today.
