Honoring David Nahai

As a lawyer, government official and community leader, David has an extensive record of success in both the private and public sectors. He served as the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), the largest municipal utility in the United States. David also served as Senior Advisor to the Clinton Climate Initiative, a division of the Clinton Foundation working to bring about the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale.

Presenting the Andrew Goodman Award to Rock the Vote and co-founder Jody Uttal

Rock the Vote was founded in the same spirit that Andrew Goodman, and thousands of other volunteers, went to Mississippi to participate in Freedom Summer in 1964. Andrew did not see voting as a privilege. He saw it as a right, and he was compelled to act by the values of his Jewish heritage. Along with James Chaney and Mickey Schwerner, Andrew lost his life fighting for his belief in equality. Fifty years later, Bend the Arc is honored to recognize Andrew’s sacrifice and legacy and celebrate the achievements of Rock the Vote.
