About this event
Nourishment of the Hearts (Qut al-Qulub) is an incredible text which systematically explores the knowledge of hearts and how one can draw close to their Creator by knowing Him, and doing various good works with a sound intention. The author, Abu Talib al-Makki, passed away in 386 AH in Baghdad. He was a hadith scholar, Shafi'i scholar and specialist in Islamic spirituality.
In this class, our teachers will provide a short summary of the text, and then proceed to teach from various excerpts of the book. In this seminar you will learn:
- What is the book Nourishment of the Hearts about
- Who was the author
- An overview of the text
- Learn about how can one draw closer to their Creator
- About various excerpts from the text which are particularly relevant to today's time
It has even been said that this text greatly inspired Imam Hamid al-Ghazali to write The Revival of the Religious Sciences. This event will provide a good introduction to this text, which many students have not yet read or studied.
This event is the first in a series of the Great Book Series, which aims to introduce students to great historical works of benefit in a brief period of time, so that they can understand what the text is about and some of the major concepts covered therein.
