Description

The new IL civic education requirement prescribes that students use simulations democratic processes as well as discuss current and controversial issues in the classroom. Learn research based best practice in creating a safe environment for student participation in addressing the most compelling questions facing our communities. Learn how to engage students in simulations of democratic processes to acquire and practice important disciplinary content, aptitudes, and habits. Walk away with resources and strategies to enhance your current classroom practice. Explicit connections will be made to the IL Social Studies Standards, the Common Core State Standards and the Danielson Framework for Effective Teaching. Appropriate for grades 6-12.
