About this event
Can't make it live? Each ticket buyer will receive a link following the talk to a recording live for three days afterward so you can enjoy and watch at your leisure!
Writer Edith Wharton, the astute chronicler of Gilded Age society and whose birthday falls on January 23, was passionate about the interior spaces in which she lived. In fact, her first published book was The Decoration of Houses, a book of interior design co-authored with architect Ogden Codman, Jr and published in 1897. In her homes in Newport, France and certainly in The Mount, the grand New England country house she built ground up in 1901, Wharton was able to realize her own ideas of design and gracious living.
Join Carl Raymond, host the Gilded Gentleman history podcast for this special celebration and unique tour through the spaces in which Edith lived throughout her life from her childhood home in New York to her villas outside Paris and in the south of France.
This unique talk, featuring contemporary as well as rare archival images, will include an intimate look at her home The Mount in Lenox, Massachusetts as well as a very special tour of Wharton's library.
