Event description

Description

While the U.S. leads the world in medical innovations and patient access, escalating drug prices are generating a fierce political and policy debate. One proposed approach to reducing drug prices for American consumers that is attracting considerable attention from policymakers is International Reference Pricing (IRP), the practice of pegging one country’s drug prices to what other countries are paying for similar medicines. Do price controls make sense, and will they work? What would be the ripple effects of IRP on investments, R&D and patient access?

Join the American Consumer Institute on June 19th for a distinguished panel of experts who will discuss recent proposals to rein in drug pricing, the linkages between drug pricing and investment, and the consequences of legislating drug market prices. The panelists will include:

  • Dr. Krisztina Pusok, Director, American Consumer Institute (moderating)
  • Timothy Lee, Senior Vice President, Center for Individual Freedom
  • Patrick Hedger, Research Fellow, Competitive Enterprise Institute
  • Charles Sauer, President, Market Institute

ACI President Steve Pociask Will Discuss Findings of a New Research Study on the Use of International Benchmarks For Setting Prescription Drug Prices

Lunch to be provided
