The Power of Today's MicroBusiness - NCSBC July Event
Event Information
Description
The Power of Today's MicroBusiness
Greg Bashaw, executive director of the Colorado MicroBusiness Alliance will be our main speaker. The CMBA is an advocacy group that represents microbusiness interests in the statehouse, encourages and equips those who are thinking about starting a business, and trains them to do the same.
Well over 90% of all businesses in the U.S. are ‘MicroBusinesses’ – i.e. fewer than 10 employees and solopreneurs. They truly are the backbone of our economy. The owners of those businesses are the bedrock of our communities. Greg will offer a unique perspective on the opportunites before microbusiness owners (or those thinking of starting one) and highlight some of the successes he has seen in recent years. "I’m endlessly fascinating by these heroic owners of our tiniest businesses."
Transcendent (but Practical) Business Lessons
Ben Foley, executive director of ServeNow, is a voracious reader of business and non-profit oriented books. He has to in order to stay on his toes as he runs an international non-profit that serves thousands of the most vulnerable around the world.
Ben is suited for his current position because his dad was a successful entrepreneur. And his wife's grandparents started Herr's Snack Foods. Although not a microbusiness today, Herr's is transitioning to the 3rd generation as a family owned and operated business (something that is not too common today).
Ben will share some of his most practical but transcendent business lessons from applying what he has learned from some of the most successful people in the world to his everyday life.
