Event description

Description

How does overconsumption lead to the depletion of natural resources, habitat loss, adverse impacts on human health and a higher carbon footprint?

Join Annie Leonard as she tells the tale of our “stuff” -- where it comes from, how it gets to us, and where it goes after we get rid of it. Ms. Leonard’s talk will enlighten us on how to spend our money in alignment with our values to avoid negative impacts on the natural environment and our health.

Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Event begins at 7 p.m.

Annie Leonard is the Executive Director of Greenpeace USA. She has dedicated more than two decades of her life investigating and explaining the environmental and social impacts of our “stuff.” Her work involves solving environmental crises by working across economic and political systems, while concurrently addressing health and equity issues. Her 2007 film, The Story of Stuff, has become a staple in education around the globe and her book, The Story of Stuff, is a New York Times best seller. Ms. Leonard’s Story of Stuff Project has empowered and inspired more than half a million people worldwide to act to create a more sustainable and just future.

Free event sponsored by City of Sunnyvale and the Sunnyvale Sustainability Commission.
