Event description

Description

In keeping with this year’s LGBT+ History Months theme of “peace, reconciliation, activism” Prospect is hosting a panel discussion and Q&A with LGBT+ activists looking at the history of the LGBT+ movement, where we’ve been and where we hope to go. Unions have a long history of actively engaging and pushing forward equalities issues – be it equal pay for women, challenging discrimination in the workplace and society, and pushing greater LGBT+ rights.

Come along on the 26 February to hear more about where we’ve been, where we are, and where we want to go. We have activists talking about the struggles they faced and overcame; the current campaigns and issues the LGBT+ Community are dealing with; and what the future can hold for us.

Our confirmed guest speakers so far are:

  • Maria Exall, Chair of the TUC LGBT+ Committee

  • Mike Jackson, Secretary of Lesbians & Gays Support the Miners (LGSM)

  • Lesbians & Gays Support the Migrants (LGSMigrants)

Following on from our guest speakers will be the opportunity to network with the other attendees.

Can’t make this event but want to know more about Prospect’s LGBT+ Network? Our Network is open to all of our LGBT+ members and any straight allies (to borrow the Stonewall term!). To sign up online just look under the ‘Activities’ tab when logged into the Prospect website, or email us (rainbow@prospect.org.uk) to join.
