The Powell Brothers are Country/Americana recording artists from Houston, Texas.

The trio is fronted by brothers Taylor Powell (lead vocals, lead guitar) and Blake Powell (bass guitar and backing vocals). On February 14, 2019, The Powell Brothers released their first full length album entitled “Leave On The Light.” Recorded in Nashville at Ravens Landing studio, “Leave On The Light” was produced by Scott Quintana and engineered and mixed by Gena Johnson (“A Star Is Born” soundtrack, Zac Brown Band, Brandi Carlile) and features ten tracks written by Taylor Powell. The album combines elements of folk-rock, rootsy soul and country, and features a bevy of notable Nashville players including legendary pedal steel guitarist Paul Franklin; Josh Matheny on dobro/lapsteel; Kyle Ryan on banjo; Matt Utterback on bass; Adam Keafer on bass; Will Cafaro on bass and Scott Quintana on drums and percussion.

The brothers recorded this album during the aftermath and devastation of Hurricane Harvey. Perseverance, resilience and life on the road provide the backdrop for this new collection of songs that staggers artfully between timeless arrangements and sharp songcraft showcasing a defiant, evolving band on the rise. Taylor Powell had this to say about the new record:

“Hurricane Harvey definitely changed a lot of things for us,” explains Taylor Powell. “The plans we had been making for the previous few months were completely wiped out. As we were tearing down our childhood home, there were definitely many moments of despair. But as they say, when you are going through hell, keep on going. Looking back, it actually wiped the slate clean, and gave us an opportunity to do something much greater than we had planned before. We decided to use this as a sign that it was time to make the record we had always wanted to make.”

The first radio single off the new album was “Coming Home,” a love letter to Taylor and Blake Powell’s hometown of Houston, Texas. The single enjoyed seven weeks in the Top 20 on both the TRRR and CDX Traction Texas radio charts. The brothers followed up “Coming Home” with the releases of “Somewhere Down The Road” and the current radio single “The Way You Are.” One of the earliest songs of The Powell Brothers’ repertoire, “The Way You Are” showcases the band’s anthemic rock/pop influences and hits the listener with an upbeat tempo right out of the gate.

The Powell Brothers’ music really comes to life in their high energy live show. The excellent musicianship and exciting stage show has led to opportunities for the power trio to share the stage with Lee Brice, Billy Currington, Josh Turner, Big & Rich, Gary Allan, Montgomery Gentry, Granger Smith, Cody Johnson, Mark Chesnutt, Suzy Bogguss, The Bellamy Brothers, Pat Green, Randy Rogers Band, Jack Ingram and many more. Affectionately referred to by industry peers as “road dogs,” the group performs between 120 and 150 tour dates a year across the U.S. In 2019, The Powell Brothers’ tour schedule takes them as far west as Portland, Oregon and as far east as Baltimore, Mayland. The Powell Brothers will embark on an 18 date Western U.S. Summer Tour that includes performances in New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and California.

Taylor and Blake Powell have many interests outside of music, including sports. The brothers decided to combine their passions for music and sports by performing at some of the largest collegiate and professional sporting events in the country. The Powell Brothers have been featured at the ● NFC Wildcard Playoff Game (Seattle Seahawks vs. Dallas Cowboys)

● American League Championship Series (Boston Red Sox vs. Houston Astros) ● NHL Draft ● Mitsubishi Las Vegas Bowl● Valero Alamo Bowl ● AT&T “Red River Showdown” (Texas Longhorns vs. Oklahoma Sooners) and ● Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. The group has also performed “The Star Spangled Banner” for the ● Wrangler National Finals Rodeo ● Houston Astros ● San Diego Padres

● Milwaukee Brewers and ● Texas Rangers.

When asked about The Powell Brothers’ explosive growth and what the future holds, Taylor Powell explained:

“It all boils down to this; good songs and good people. We are committed to the craft of songwriting. Our goal is to make every song and every album better than the last, and to surround ourselves with the best people.”

Blake Powell echoes his brother’s thoughts and added:

“Our goal is to deliver recorded music and live performances worthy of the love and support we are so blessed to receive."

The Walkaways are a metropolitan DC-based band, making original music since 2006. The band released its third full-length album entitled "After the Fall" in 2017. This follows Fifty Left to Burn (2008) and Romance and Medicine (2012), the latter recorded and co-produced with Grammy-nominated producer John Jennings (Mary Chapin Carpenter, Indigo Girls, The Rankin Family, Iris Dement).

From the beginning The Walkaways' sound has been called "alt-country" (Washington Post, Washington City Paper, Washingtonian Magazine), and that description still fits pretty well. Their songs draw even more broadly, however, from Americana, folk, roots, country, indie, and classic rock. Key influences include Ryan Adams, Son Volt, Wilco, Springsteen, Uncle Tupelo, Josh Ritter, The Band, and Old 97s.

You can hear The Walkaways play live at popular DC-area venues that support original music, along with local festivals, charity events, and every now and then at venues in NYC like Arlene's Grocery and Rockwood Music Hall.
