Event description

Description

It's the night before Thanksgiving in St. Louis, you're probably off work the next day, so come hear some refined STL music at Foam.

The Potomac Accord formed in 2000 in St. Louis, MO USA to explore introspective and subtler spaces through dynamics, and has toured nearly all of upper North America far and wide on the dark, lyrical strength of its powerful glow-through-the-gloom keyboard & guitar sound. Somewhere between Joy Division, Television, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, this keyboard fronted band erupts into Fugazi guitar grinds, Tame Impala beats, and Bad Plus mayhem when you'd least expect it.

Karate Bikini is a formerly fictitious MySpace band that has developed into one of the most promising new music groups to come out of Saint Louis in several years. Seven seasoned musicians surround a musical core provided by songwriter Tim McAvin. Sonically, the group reminds audiences that ensemble performances (think “The Band”) transcend the mechanized sound of much of today’s music. Melodies conjure memories of Sam Cook, Matthew Sweet, Madness and musical locales like Motown, Beale and New York when Television and Lou Reed walked the streets.

Eric Hall is a composer, improviser, producer, and performer of electronic-based music and video, as well as an installation artist, DJ, and freelance music and arts educator.
