Join acclaimed poet Teri Ellen Cross Davis and an international panel including Ireland Professor of Poetry Paula Meehan, Cave Canem fellow and Affrilachian Poet Remica Bingham-Risher, and Kyle Betit, Senior Genealogist with AncestryProGenealogists on Sunday June 26th, for a free seminar on exploring your ancestry followed by a poetry writing workshop. Teri Ellen Cross Davis, poetry coordinator of the Folger Shakespeare Library and a Cave Canem fellow, will lead the discussion.

PAID WORKSHOP FOR 24 PARTICIPANTS FROM 3:15 TO 4:45 PM

Following the seminar, the panel offers a generative workshop that will explore family and ancestry through poetry. Using close readings, we will consider how poems can examine, celebrate and/or reconsider history, and also discuss how persona and voice inform that work. The number of workshop participants is limited to ensure that each person can be heard.

Tickets for the Workshop are $25 for members of AAIDN or IAW&A and $50 for non-members.
