Welcome Panem citizens to THE POETRY GAMES! Six teams of two tributes (poets) will compete in a three round poetry slam wherein the rounds and extra event activities will be loosely themed after The Hunger Games. Teams will represent Districts 1, 2, 4, 7, 11, and 12 as described in the novel. Each team has been registered and is ready to compete. This event is FREE and open to all ages. Join us for a night of laughter, poetry and entertaining competitive spirit! For more information email sevencityart@gmail.com.

Everyone who RSVPs receives  a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to Ruby Tuesdays in the "I Am Shelly Bell" online raffle at 10am on April 6th. You will receive details via email after RSVP. 


The Poetry Game Play: 

 

Opening Ceremony

As in The Hunger Games there will be an opening ceremony in which tributes will have an opportunity (5mins) to get the crowd on their side using any skill they have BESIDES poetry. 

 

Rules

  • This is a duo slam, 2 members per team are required.
  • Each poet/team will have 3 mins to perform each poem. 
  • Judges will be random members of the audience
  • Judges will score each performance from 0 to 10 Olympic style evaluating such qualities as originality, and content. 

Rounds

  • Round 1: Quotes from the Hunger Games novel 
  • Round 2: Poem inspired by a District from the Hunger Games novel 
  • Round 3: Poem of team's choice

Extras

  • Each team will receive a supply bag containing props worth 5, 10, 15, 20 points that can be used during any round to increase their chances of winning.
  • There will be random sponsors in the crowd! Sponsors will be folks in the audience that have the opportunity to provide you with extra points between the second and third round which could push a team into the third round.
