Join us for the second installment of our 2019 Pitmaster Dinner Series featuring Leslie Roark Scott and The BBQ Ninja of Ubons Barbeque.

About this Event

The Smoke Shop's Pitmaster Dinner Series continues its second year with Chefs Leslie Roark Scott and Craig Verhage (aka The BBQ Ninja) of Mississippi's award-winning Ubons BBQ. In partnership with Maker's Mark, our second of three dinners takes place on Wednesday, October 16th. Tickets include a Maker's Mark specialty event cocktail, passed appetizers, a three course family-style dinner, and a Q&A with Chefs Leslie and The Ninja, as well as tax and gratuity.

Tickets are limited and will sell out quickly.

Appetizers:

- Smoked Catfish with capers and dill, served with dry rubbed pork skins

- Smoked Yolk Deviled Eggs

- Big Jim Hush Puppies with corn and jalapeño

The Dinner:

- Mississippi Delta Tamales with crackers and Crystal Hot Sauce

- Smoked Simmons Catfish

- Mississippi Style Baby Back Ribs

- Smoked Turnips and Greens

- Bloody Mary Salad (cucumber, onion, tomato with a Bloody Mary vinaigrette)

- Delta Grind Pimento Cheese Rice Grits

- Pineapple Bread Pudding with bourbon sauce

About The Smoke Shop's Pitmaster Dinner Series:

Every fall, The Smoke Shop hosts its popular Pitmaster Dinner Series where Andy invites his chef and barbecue friends (and some of the country's best Chefs and Pitmasters) for a series of special barbecue inspired dinners. Each dinner features a different guest chef who designs the one-night only dinner menu to include appetizers and a 3-course family-style dinner. The 2019 series, in partnership with Maker's Mark, will include dinners by Jamie Bissonnette, Leslie Scott and The BBQ Ninja, and Amy Mills and will feature a special Maker's Mark cocktail. Past guest chefs have included Tuffy Stone, Chris Hart, Bill Gillespie, and Brian Treitman. Tickets to each dinner are limited and available on Eventbrite.

About Leslie Roark Scott:

Leslie Roark Scott started cooking competitive BBQ in 1989 alongside her father, Pitmaster Garry Roark. In 1992 she was the first female to win a Memphis in May sanctioned Grand Championship. Leslie and the Ubons BBQ Team have cooked in competitions and festivals all over the country including The Big Apple BBQ Block Party, Memphis in May, The Jack Daniels World Championship, Windy City Smoke Out and Hogs for the Cause. Leslie is the Owner and Chef for Ubons Restaurant in Yazoo City, MS. Leslie has appeared on Chopped Grillmasters and Chopped Impossible and is a Chopped Champion. She has also appeared on BBQ Crawl, BBQ Pitmasters, Stove Tots and Smoked. Leslie and the Ubons team recently were chosen to cook at the James Beard House in NYC.

About The BBQ Ninja:

Craig Verhage started cooking BBQ professionally in 1995 and joined up with Ubons BBQ of Yazoo in 1998. The BBQ Ninja is his brand, with the nickname originating in 2009 due to his unique look of a bandana and sunglasses plus the flamethrower he often uses to cook. Over the years, The Ninja has been a part of over 40 Grand Championships won as well as countless other top ten finishes. He has appeared on Chopped Grillmasters and often teaches classes featuring wild game that he hunts and harvests, with an emphasis on alligator.
