Event description

Description

Join us Sunday September 15th at Koelbel Library for a special engagement of the soon to be released movie, The Pitesti Experiement. (Romanian pronunciation: [piˈteʃtʲ])

Victoria Baltag, director and producer will be on site to answer questions and introduce her project. You will hear behind the scene stories, attend a private screening including raw footage and get involved in the Q&A session following the projection. Arive early and meet us in the Cafe to learn more about the Pitesti experiment and its historical significance.

The Pitesti Experiment depicts the true story of the events which took place in the Pitesti [piˈteʃtʲ] prison, in Romania, between 1949 and 1951. Following the establishment of the communist regime all students were compelled to become members of the communist party. Those who refused were imprisoned and 're-educated. The re-education phenomenon, a concept borrowed from the Soviet educator A.S. Makarenko, relied on the assumption that every person can become a 'new entity' through 're-education'.

This is the first feature film on this subject and it is funded through public donations, thus becoming a 100% independent project, initiated by Connections Romania's team of young professionals, passionate about history and cinematography.

All proceeds will be used for the post-production phase of the movie The Pitesti Experiment. You will be able to meet Victoria and hear directly from her all the details about her film and be a part of this wonderful project!

If you want to support Victoria and the film please donate to her GoFundMe campaign and help us spread the word about her film!
