The Pathway to Competency and Career Development

Annual Holiday Educational Event

Speaker:  Beth Harper, Workforce Innovation Officer, Association of Clinical Research Professionals

Description:

There is no question that clinical research is becoming more complex.  But with complexity comes opportunity!  More than ever, clinical research professionals face more career choices and can expand their careers both in terms of breadth and depth.  However, with opportunity comes the responsibility to ensure competency so that the quality and integrity of clinical research conduct and the profession is maintained.  In this interactive session, we will explore a range of topics related to the future of clinical research careers and how best to ensure the workforce is well prepared to meet the growing challenges in our industry.  Beyond that, we will also look at ways that ACRP is supporting the career development channels for employers and employees and how individuals can create their own career map to expand their professional development.

Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss the primary workforce challenges facing the clinical research industry and the ACRP initiatives designed to address these challenges.

2. Describe how partnered employers are addressing the workforce issues.

3. List the Joint Task Force (JTF) Harmonized Competencies for Clinical Research Professionals and how they can be used for career / employee development.

4. Discuss the current initiatives proposed by ACRP to address future job roles and micro-credentialing of clinical research professionals.

6:45 – 7:15 PM   President’s Welcome, 2017 Volunteers and Sponsors recognition, meet 2018 Executive Board

Northern California Chapter (SF Bay Area) - Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP)

The Northern California Chapter (NCC) was founded in 1999 as an affiliate of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). Our mission is to serve Northern California clinical research professionals by providing professional development and networking opportunities in support of human subject protections in clinical research.

We offer high quality, zero - low-cost events, almost monthly and rotated around our region: Sacramento, North Bay, San Francisco – Palo Alto (Peninsula), Berkeley - east (East Bay), and Silicon Valley - San Jose (South Bay). Our annual program includes a Planning Meeting, several educational and networking events, and a year-end holiday educational event.  All events are open to the clinical research community.  We have ~275 members, the largest of all Chapters. We accomplish our robust program due to sponsorship and our volunteers.
