Event description

Description

Please join us for a public conversation about how we might build a permanent path home for our undocumented communities.Through video pieces and live discussion, this event will create an intergenerational dialogue between recipients of the 1986 Immigration Reform & Control Act (IRCA) and today's DREAMers. IRCA enabled 2.7 million people to move from undocumented to documented only three decades ago. We'll examine lessons learned from this historic legislation to apply to today's fight for a pathway to legalization for our DACAmented and undocumented communities.

Speakers include:
  • May Chen, International Vice President of UNITE HERE (retired), IRCA case worker at ILGWU
  • Dina Lopez, Assistant Professor, School of Education, City College of New York, IRCA recipient
  • Sagraria Mendez, IRCA recipient, IGLWU member-leader (retired)
  • Janis Rosheuvel, Program Officer Solidaire, former Director of Families for Freedom, will moderate the intergenerational dialogue
  • DACA-mented leaders and organizers
