About NANAY

Angela has arrived to congratulate her twin sister on her new baby but instead finds Eve “cohabitating” with a Filipino vampire with an infamous hunger for all things fetus. Does Angela believe Eve’s claims that all is well with her new relationship? Nanay, a new play by Molly Olis Krost, incorporates Filipino mythology and tradition to compare eastern and western approaches to sisterhood, trauma and healing.

About MOLLY OLIS KROST
(she/her/hers)

Molly Olis Krost is an emerging Filipina playwright based in the Bay Area. Growing up raised by Filipina mother and Jewish father made her aware of the internal collisions that come with struggling to bridge two different cultures together into one identity. This struggle to connect one’s culture and identity with one’s sense of self ultimately remains at the center of her work. Her passion to learn and grow in both the creative and administrative side of the performing arts has led her across the country to Washgintgon D.C., and even as far as Dublin, Ireland. She holds two B.A.’s from UC Berkeley and is currently pursuing her MFA in Playwriting at San Francisco State University.

Molly's plays have been performed or are forthcoming at Z Space, San Francisco Playhouse, PlayGround, Clutch Productions, MaArte Theatre Collective, SOMArts Cultural Center, SFSU Fringe, Zellerbach Hall and Durham Studio Theater. She was awarded the Gita Specker First Place Award for Best Dramatic Monologue by the San Francisco Browning Society. Her writing has been published in {m}aganda magazine.
