Event description
The Paintwork Narrative in the Conservation of Stained Glass: Two Case Studies in Singapore and Mumbai by Ms Swati Chandgadkar

About this Event

The three important norms that underpin all conservation work, including historic stained glass windows are: Minimum intervention, documentation of all work undertaken and reversibility of techniques employed in restoration/conservation. In stained glass, recreating lost paintwork is an irreversible process and hence must be addressed with much thought and care. This was foremost on my agenda when my studio undertook the conservation of stained glass windows in the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Singapore and the Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue, Mumbai, India.
