The Other Graduation with Juraj Kojš
Event Information
About this event
If you are feeling a little stuck and unsure about how to proceed with your music career, you might benefit from a little boost from somebody who did it all, and in their own unique way.
Juraj Kojš will share his music (and other) thoughts and experiences with you in a casual, candid conversation and work samples.
The last half hour or so, we will be joined by a career and transition coach, Tricia Ross. Let your ming open, your guard down, forget right academic expectations, set your imaginations free, set up your vision boards and be ready to get amused, amazed, challenged and rewarded.
Juraj says:
"My name is Juraj Kojš, and I am an artist from Slovakia and USA, exploring the fields of music, sound art, poetry, mixed media, multimedia, theater and technologies as a maker and performer. Producing other people’s works, doing scholarly research and teaching also give me joy, while living in Miami, FL.
My works received awards at Europe—A Sound Panorama, Miami New Times Best Off Award, Eastman Electroacoustic Composition and Performance Competition and the Digital Art Award. Miami New Times described my muscle-powered multimedia Neraissance as “striking and unforgettable,” and MiamiArtzine called Signals “enthralling and immersive.” Miami Herald praised Bang for the Train as “the most profound…unexpected and enjoyable.”
Organizations that commissioned works from me include The Quiet Music Ensemble, Miami Light Project, Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble, Meet the Composer, Harvestworks, Miami Theater Center, MDC LIve Arts, Deering Estate and Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice at University of Miami’s Frost School of Music."
