CFAD is once again excited to announce plans for the 2021 Orange Line, our annual holiday tradition featuring a holiday train window display

About this event

Hop Aboard the 2021 Orange Line!

CFAD is once again excited to announce plans for the 2021 Orange Line, our annual holiday tradition featuring a Legos®-inspired holiday train window display. Our theme this year is Rise Up! In a Post-Pandemic World.

In years past, the windows of the flagship Lazarus department store served as a canvas for whimsical, festive model train displays. Inspired by that tradition, CFAD is once again excited to present its contemporary holiday train display – the Orange Line – in the same building where model trains rolled along through the holiday season years ago.

As in previous years, we invite architects, landscape architects, designers of all types and high school and college students to show off their model-making skills and visionary thinking, and to unleash their creativity by designing models that will decorate the Orange Line track.

Up to 15 participating firms or student teams may sponsor a 12-inch by 18-inch plot along the train line for $250 upon which to mount their concept (a model) inspired by this year’s theme. Or firms and organizations are invited to sponsor a high school or college student design team to create their model.

Models will be constructed with all white Legos® (clear or glass is acceptable) and should be no shorter than 24 inches and no taller than 48 inches. Legos® sets are available at CFAD to be picked up and used for your model. We can also deliver them. Please note: All Legos® have been cleaned and sanitized. For additional size and technical information, please contact Joe Moss at moss@grad.cc.

To arrange pick-up/drop-off of Legos®, please email us at mail@columbuscfad.org or call 614.563.1066.

We look forward to seeing your designs – and appreciate your support!

Models are due Wednesday November 24, 2021

The exhibit will be on display December 1, 2021-January 8, 2021
