Description

The OpEd Project: Write to Change the World Workshop

Facilitated by the OpEd Project and hosted by The Boston Foundation.

Did you know that over 80% of opinion pieces - op-eds - are written by white men? Given the current climate, it is critical that diverse voices shape the public discourse on the policies that most impact our communities. This culturally-adapted workshop will teach you how to hone your voice, bring your experience and expertise to the national narrative on Latinos and civic engagement. We will explore the source of credibility; the patterns and elements of persuasion; the difference between being “right” and being effective; how to preach beyond the choir; and how to think bigger about what you know—to have more impact in the world. Participants emerge with concrete results (op-ed drafts and more), and follow-up access to the OpEd Project's national network of high-level Mentor-Editors.

This is an interactive workshop limited to 25 participants. Latina Circle is offering a special rate of $100 (breakfast and lunch included) for the workshop. We will provide five full scholarships based on need and commitment to publish opinion and thought leadership pieces relating to the Latinx experience within six months following the workshop. Please contact betty@latinacircle for scholarship inquiries.

Stay tuned for the detailed agenda.
