Event description

Description

8pm | £10 | Oh Yeah Music Centre

An evening of live contemporary, jazz and blues featuring: Ciaran Lavery, Matt McGinn, Ronnie Greer and John McCullough, John Wilson/Sam Davidson (Taste), Linley Hamilton/Lewis Smith/Suzanne Savage, Billy Boy Miskimmon, Reverend Doc, Chris Taplin and Ben Flavelle-Cobain (Grandson).

The Oh Yeah Legend Award recognises the exceptional contribution of a musician from Northern Ireland. This year Oh Yeah will make a posthumous presentation in honour of the late Jackie Flavelle.

Jackie was a giant of the Jazz and Blues scene of Belfast. The bass master from North Belfast via Donaghadee performed and worked with Ottilie Patterson, Chris Barber, Sonny Terry, Brownie McGhee, Dr John, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Rod Stewart to name only a few. He also presented a radio show on Downtown Radio, and in recent years worked with Duke Special and Ciaran Lavery.

Jackie's daughter Lisa has curated a special evening and the list of contributors still grows.

Proceeds from the events will go to Help Musicians NI, the musicians' charity that supported Jackie before he sadly passed away on September 25th, 2017.
