Description
This 2-day training on public benefits is being offered free of charge for DDS staff and providers. It is funded by the MA Department of Developmental Services.
May 15 8:30-4, May 16 8:30-12:30. Do not register if you are unable to attend both days.
Training Description:
This training focuses on how earnings from work affects SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, Medicare and other public benefits such as subsidized housing and foodstamps.This training also includes an extensive review of the work incentives associated with each benefit and how they can be leveraged to assist individuals with disabilities to transition into employment or increase earnings without jeopardizing benefits. This training is geared toward employment professionals, case managers and rehabilitation counselors; Participants are expected to attend both days of training.
Learning Objectives:
As a result of attending this training, participants will be able to:
- Verify and differentiate the various disability benefits
- Inform clients of the rules to report work income
- Explain how earnings will impact cash, healthcare and other benefits
- Describe how SSA work incentives can help working beneficiaries
- Direct clients to resources to address employment and benefit needs
This training has been approved for 10.5 Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) CE Hours!
Coffee and morning beverages will be available each morning at 8:00. The training will begin promptly at 8:30. Participants are responsible for their own lunch and any afternoon refreshments. There is a full cafeteria on the lower level of the building.
