Event description

Description

Educators who understand the basics of transition planning increase their capacity to develop realistic postsecondary goals, provide individualized transition services, and maintain overall Indicator 13 compliance. This introductory training will provide a brief overview of the foundational theories that guide quality transition planning.

Participants will learn:

  • How to implement secondary transition best practices
  • Legal requirements for transition planning
  • How to create compliant secondary transition plans
  • How to capture this information within SEDS (Special Education Data System)

Additionally, participants will receive information about interagency collaboration and become familiar with resources that can support transition plan development and implementation.

This introductory training was developed for special education teachers serving middle school and high school students who are new to transition planning.

This professional development opportunity will be offered four times this fall. When registering, please select one training date.

Space is limited and registration is required.

For questions, please contact Jennifer Carpenter at Jennifer.Carpenter@dc.gov.
