This season will begin with an original ballet honoring the timeless classic, The Nutcracker. The Nutcracker: Suite Dreams will be performed on December 2-4 at the George W. Carver Museum Theater. This is the fourth season the company has performed Suite Dreams, and we never tire of making our story fresh and irresistible to our audience. Come see what has made this ballet a family favorite, but with a new twist on the story. Beginning in the here and now, Clara attends a holiday party where she meets new characters that will dance their way into your hearts. After meeting a young man, William, at the party, she falls asleep dreaming of the evening. In the dream she is transported to the Land of the Sweets, but the characters she encounters are very familiar. She dances with her old friends and the special new friend who is her Prince in the dream until she awakens back in the present. As in her dream, the audience will enjoy the familiar melded with the contemporary. The beautiful music of Tchaikovsky provides the perfect backdrop for classical ballet reminiscent of the traditional ballet performed since 1892. The percussive rhythm and haunting melodies of the contemporary music inspire innovative, modern movement and contemporary balletic themes. Woven together through the characters, this story has something for everyone. Come see how Austin Metamorphosis Dance Ensemble is changing the world of dance one dancer at a time.
This project is supported in part by the Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
Please note that seating is general admission. Doors to theater will open 30 minutes in advance of the showtime.
