The Noose of Samuel Burrows Launch Event at The Cross Keys

The name of Samuel Burrows may not be all that familiar, but his place in Chester's history certainly is. During his 26-year-long career as the city's hangman, he would be the man who sent criminals from the county of Cheshire to meet their maker in front of thousands of spectators on the gallows of New Chester Gaol.

Join Nick Kevern, the author of The Noose of Samuel Burrows, as we take a closer look at the man himself and explore some of Georgian Cheshire's most notorious criminals and the crimes that would eventually lead them to the gallows.
