The No Barriers Life: Erik Weihenmayer, Blind Adventurer, Speaker, Author &...
Date and time
Description
Despite losing his vision at the age of 13, Erik Weihenmayer has become a celebrated and accomplished athlete and adventurer. He is the first blind person in history to climb the Seven Summits — the highest peaks on each of the seven continents — including the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. Redefining what it means to be blind, Erik has opened up the minds of people around the world with his motivational talks, charity work and bold adventures such as his recent 21-day kayak trip through the Grand Canyon. Erik uses these adventures to explore what it means to live a No Barriers Life. He encourages people to embrace a No Barriers Mindset by breaking through their own barriers in order to discover the potential that lies within themselves.
Hawai‘i Pacific Health advocates for both health and wellness. Leading a healthy life includes taking care of the body as well as the mind and spirit. Erik’s story will inspire our patients, students and community to believe, as Erik says, that “what’s within me is stronger than what’s in my way.”
It’s this No Barriers Mindset that we believe will inspire us to create a stronger and healthier Hawai‘i.
