The play offers a window into the soul of a young Henry David Thoreau, in the night he spent in prison for his act of civil disobedience in protest against the Mexican War. Set in 1830s New England, it is an intimate look at the turbulent course of his life that led to the provocative ideas that have made him an icon of 19th century America.
