Event description
The Next Frontier for Education in Emergencies - Promising Practices & New Directions in Social-Emotional Learning

About this Event

Education can be lifesaving, particularly in emergency contexts. Join FHI 360, UNESCO's Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report and the LEGO Foundation to discuss the next frontier for education in emergencies, highlighting:

• The importance of ensuring that education systems address the trauma from which many migrant and refugee children suffer

• The need for safe, nurturing and responsive playful learning environments (formal and non-formal)

• The urgency for better training for teachers to provide psychosocial support, including through social-emotional learning, to children who experience traumatic events

Drawing on the findings of the GEM Report’s policy paper Education as healing: Addressing the trauma of displacement through social and emotional learning and showcasing new interactive learning through play approaches championed by the LEGO Foundation, participants will gain insights into new directions for social-emotional learning in emergency settings.
